  1. The reader may ask the question why didn't Stanely accept the ride back to camp offer by mr.Pendanski? While other may not understand I believe I do in a way. In chapter seven page forty the aurthor said "he used his legs to help but he just didn't have any strength. He was traped in his hole." He had to make steps to get out. A ride would not have helped him he needed to walk to regain strength.

This surprised me page forty states that "he knew it was nothing to be proud of,but he was proud nonetheless." Maybe because it was his first day and his first hole made him proud. I guess Stanely was happy his hard work paid off. When he first started he could not get the shovel in to the ground. The shovel washard to work with at first "he tried to jam it into the earth, but the blade banged against the ground and bounced off without making a dent."

This means that your dead ether way. The first chapter on page 4 says that "you don't want to be bitten by a yellow spotted lizard, That's the worst thing that can happen to you, you will die a slow and painful death always." This must mean that the lizard poison slowly attacks your insides as it gets to your heart your body breaks down so bad that it can not support you. On page fortyone chapter eight that "If you ever been close enough to see the yellow spots, you are probably dead." I have no Idea what this means maybe it means just before you die the only thing you see is the spots.

The lizard are the main conflict. If you always die from it's bite then that makes it a major conflict. Another reason is to inform. The reader may want to learn a little bit more about these walking guns with spots.

The author is informing the reader about them. He must have seen and heard alot about them. So to save the reader they relize what not to do to attract one. Now that reader knows they are safe. That's why we are told about they eat
