The boys tell Stanely that the second hole is hard because it is. His muscles are still recovering from the first hole. the reader may remember how he was after he was done with the first hole. On page forty chapter seven it said "he put his hands on the rim and tried to pull himself up,he couldn't do it, his arms were too weak to lift his heavy body." Another thing that factors in is he is the slowest diger and overweight making it really hard for him.
ReplyDeleteIt was important because the reader could get a visual picture of them. Also this gives the reader a little backround information about the peple at camp green lake. On page fortythree the reader is informed that nearly everthing in the room was broken "the Tv,the pinball machine,the fourniture, even the people looked broken." this tell me that the equipment was old and breakable the people was broken because the camp took away a major peace of them.
Even though the name is misleading he want his mother to think he is alright. No child want to worry their mother. He said it him self when squid laughed at the fact he was writting to his mother he said "she'll worry if I don't." (pagefortysix chapter nine) This tells me that Stanely could not deal with making his own mother worry about him. She was happy that he did not make her worry as well she said in her return leter that he made her feel good that he made the best out of a his situation.
I thinked they nicknamed him that because he was out in his hole like a caveman in a cave. It almost like why they call zero zero on page nineteen chapter five they said "we call him zero because he got nothing in his head." The boys makes nick names based off how you are. Another reason Stanely nick name could have been caveman because had the appearance of a caveman. It was kida funny a boy was about to beat up Stanely and Xray warned him not to mess with Stanely Saying "you don't want to mess with the caveman," it was like the name was inteened to protect him.
He got caught in it the heat from it baked him like a cake. On page thirtyone the novel tells me how him hating the sun happen it Says "he felt it rays on his face, and as he reached down to pick up his canteen, he felt a sudden rush of dizziness and put his hands on his knees to steady himself." The only did that when it was half way up and at 50% power picture what happen at 100% power. He must of had a hard time with diging and fighting the abilty to faint. Another thing is he got caught out in the sun he could have been in a awful form and still diging.
Xray said "I've been here for almost a year, I've never found anything."(pagefithtytwo chapter elven) From this alone I can tell that like Stanely Xray hasn't had the best of luck. He also thought it was unfair that after a year he found nothing and after one day Stanely had found something. Something like that can make a person very upset. I know I would be if I am working at a job a year and a new guy gets a higher postion than me I would be both upset and jealous.
